What’s new in the SpreadCharts app?

Published September 24, 2025

It’s been a few months since we launched the new version of the SpreadCharts app. It’s still in beta, running at testing.spreadcharts.com

We’ve made a lot of progress, pushing updates nearly every week. A few bugs remain, but we’re close to finishing the functional side. That will allow us to focus on fine-tuning the color schemes (dark mode) and optimizing the app for mobile devices.

The new app introduced a different way of manipulating charts than you were used to. Instead of selecting the displayed period with buttons, it now uses candle aggregation and pinch-to-zoom (mouse wheel on desktop). This approach is more aligned with how most other platforms work.

However, we weren’t sure this was the right direction. The SpreadCharts app is unique — no other platform lets you work with so many charts at once. That’s a massive amount of data, and being able to scroll through it quickly is extremely useful.

So, we decided on a smart solution: you can now use both the old and the new way of manipulating charts. We’ve added back the period selection buttons (1Y, 2Y, 5Y, …) right below the candle aggregation options, in the toolbar on the right side.

On top of that, we implemented a special “Zoom lock” button. When activated, charts across the app will no longer react to pinch-to-zoom. You can still move the chart with drag & drop, but the mouse wheel will scroll the page instead of zooming the chart. This makes it easy to browse through the data if you have multiple subcharts stacked on top of each other.

Here’s a screenshot from the app, with the mouse cursor over the Zoom lock button:

Try this feature in the testing version and let us know what you think. You might need to reload the app using Ctrl+Shift+R to fetch the latest version.
